Pick me up, don’t let me down.

Hold me high against the wall.

Sweep me off

my broken feet

you lead, I follow.

Feel your grip against my hips.

The sharpest tongue to bloody lips.

With two steps front

and three steps back

you speak, I swallow.

Is this the dance ….

Or just a trance

I think we may have got our wires crossed.

Rhythm and rhyme ….

Or just killing time

Is this a metronome or just a ticking clock?

Slip yourself into my shoes.

Oh, won’t you have a look around?

Find the key

to let you get

inside my head.

Throw me off the beaten path.

Take your time to do the math.

And calculate

what it might take

to pull my threads.

Is this the game….

Is it all the same

I think we may have got our wires crossed….

Choreography….

Or chronology

Is this a metronome or just a ticking clock?

Step right up and spin me round.

Keep me reeling on my heels.

Turn my back

so I can’t see

the way they stare.

Feel the beat inside my chest.

The pounding pulse without a rest.

Nothing to stop

the bitter thoughts

you bring to bear.

Is this the stage….

Or just a cage

It seems we may have got our wires crossed.

Turn on a dime…

This one last time

Is this a metronome or just a ticking — metronome or just a ticking clock?

Tick tock.
